Coop Eden vs Eden Cool+: Is the Cooling Pillow Worth It? (2026)

Buy the Coop Eden unless you wake up with a hot pillow. The Eden Cool+ adds a cool-touch cover, gel foam fill, and two sides (firmer and softer); it sleeps neutral, not cold. Both flatten and both covers wash; buy direct for the 100-night trial.

We own the Coop Eden, and this comparison’s Eden side draws on our review of it and the owner data behind that review. The Eden Cool+ side is researched from Tom’s Guide’s two-week test of the pillow (December 2024), Coop’s own product pages and its Original-versus-Eden explainer, and the Amazon listings. Prices are read from the live listings on the date shown.

One question settles this: do you wake up with a hot pillow? If the answer is no, buy the Eden and stop reading. It is already the cooler of Coop’s everyday pillows, because shredded foam lets air move in a way a solid foam block cannot, and it is the pillow we recommend first in our side sleeper roundup. If the answer is yes, most nights, the Cool+ is the pillow Coop built for you, and the rest of this page is about how much cooler it gets you (less than the name suggests) and what it costs.

On Amazon when we read them, the Eden was $92.65 and the Eden Cool+ was $126.65, both queen. Coop’s own description of the difference is honest about the scale: the Eden gives a hint of coolness, the Cool+ is meant to feel crisp. Tom’s Guide’s tester, sleeping on the Cool+ through a summer, landed in between. It never felt hot. It never felt cold, either.

The cover does most of the work

The Cool+ cover is a cool-touch knit, and Coop publishes Qmax figures for it: 0.38 for the outer cover and 0.34 for the inner liner, where higher means cooler to the touch. Those are the numbers that make the first minute on a Cool+ feel different from the first minute on an Eden. Cool-to-the-touch fabric is exactly that, though. It pulls heat for the first stretch of contact, and after that the fill and the airflow through it decide how the pillow sleeps.

The fill is shaped for airflow

The Cool+ swaps the Eden’s shredded foam for small plus-shaped pieces of gel memory foam mixed with microfiber. Coop says the shape keeps more space between pieces, so more air moves through the pillow. It also changes the feel a little: Tom’s Guide’s tester described sinking noticeably into it at the stock fill level and adding fill to firm it up.

It has two sides

This is the change we think matters most, and it has little to do with temperature. One side of the Cool+ has a thin layer of phase-change gel memory foam under the cover, which reads firmer and smoother. The other side puts the fill right under the fabric, softer and fluffier. Flip it and you have a different pillow. The Eden only adjusts one way, by adding or removing fill. (Tom’s Guide’s one odd complaint: on the fluffy side, the tester kept waking with her nose pressed into the pillow.)

What Neither One Fixes

Both pillows flatten. Our Coop Eden review cites owner reports of 10 to 20 percent loft loss by month 12, and Coop sells refill so you can top it back up. The Cool+ is not immune: Tom’s Guide’s tester found it flattening under her head over the course of a night and fluffed it at 3 a.m. more than once. Plan on fluffing either one every morning.

Neither goes in the washing machine, only the covers do. Both ship with a new-foam smell; the Cool+ tester noticed it only nose-to-pillow and said it cleared in about a day, while Eden owners report 24 to 72 hours. And neither will cool you like latex. If you wake up soaked, our cooling pillows guide covers the options that get there by construction, and our 3am overheating guide explains why the mattress and bedding usually matter more than the pillow.

Where to Buy Matters Here

The 100-night trial and 5-year warranty are Coop’s terms when you buy direct. Amazon’s standard return window is 30 days, which Tom’s Guide flagged for the Cool+. For a pillow you adjust over a week or two, 30 days is enough to know. If you want the full trial, buy from Coop; if the Amazon price is lower on the day, 30 days is a fair trade.

Which One, by Sleeper

Side sleepers who do not overheat: the Eden, packed dense for shoulder height. It is our default for a reason, and the Coop Eden vs Layla Kapok comparison covers the other pillow side sleepers usually weigh it against. Side sleepers who wake up hot: the Cool+, firm side up, with the extra fill added.

Back sleepers can go either way and should let the price decide. Stomach sleepers should take fill out of whichever they buy until it is thin, and the Cool+’s soft side is the better surface for that. Combination sleepers get the most out of the Cool+’s two sides, because a pillow that changes when you flip it is a pillow that follows you through the night.

Where We Land

Buy the Coop Eden unless heat is the reason you are shopping. Buy the Eden Cool+ if it is, and expect a pillow that never feels hot rather than one that feels cold. If the spread between them is small on the day you look, the Cool+’s two-sided design is worth it on its own.

What to consider

Heat decides it: if your pillow is warm when you wake, the Cool+ is the one to look at. Then how you sleep: the Cool+'s two sides suit combination sleepers, and side sleepers who run hot should use its firmer side with the extra fill. Plan on fluffing either pillow each morning.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Coop Eden and the Eden Cool+?

The Cool+ has a cool-touch cover with a heat-wicking inner liner, plus-shaped gel memory foam fill in place of the Eden's shredded foam, and two sides: a firmer side with a phase-change gel foam layer and a softer side. The Eden has one feel and a Lulltra cover. Both adjust by adding or removing fill.

Is the Coop Eden Cool+ actually cooler?

Cooler to the touch, yes, and it does not trap heat. Tom's Guide's tester slept on it through a summer and found it temperature-neutral rather than actively cold. Coop itself describes the Eden as a hint of coolness and the Cool+ as crisp.

Can you wash the Coop Eden or Eden Cool+?

The covers are machine washable on cold. The pillows themselves are spot-clean only, so use a pillowcase and wash it often.

Do Coop pillows go flat?

Both flatten over time. Owner reports on the Eden put it at 10 to 20 percent loft loss by month 12, and Tom's Guide's tester found the Cool+ flattening over the course of a night. Fluff either one each morning and add the spare fill when it drops.

Should I buy Coop pillows on Amazon or direct?

Coop's 100-night trial and 5-year warranty apply when you buy direct; Amazon's standard return window is 30 days. Thirty days is enough to dial in the fill, so buy wherever the price is lower unless you want the longer trial.
